The Ivory Coast International had an exceptional season with Lille, scoring 23 goals and registering 11 assists from 40 goals in all competitions. He is the complete package, fast, skillful and has a great eye for goal, and as such, had apparently caught the eye of Solskjaer.
Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Liverpool were also in the fray for Pepe's signature, however, it now seems that the Bundesliga Champions have stolen a march on the competition. Bayern are desperate to replace their departing legends, Ribery and Robben and are looking for similar players to fit the bill. Along with Pepe, the Bundesliga giants also have their eyes on Mancester City's Leroy Sane, even though pricing him away from the Premier League Champions will not be easy.
However, United seem to be the biggest losers in all these latest developments. Solskjaer must be disappointed at losing out on another of his targets.

Inspired by Diego Maradona, Deepungsu played as an attacking midfielder for his local club at subdivision level in his initial years and scored an important goal or two. However, his all-time favorite footballer is Lionel Messi, and evidently, he feels Argentina's glory in 2022 is his favorite FIFA World Cup moment for fulfilling his long-standing dream. He is also an ardent East Bengal fan.

Unsurprisingly, his favorite manager is Sir Alex Ferguson and the Scotsman helped him get through some of the toughest days of his life.
