Sporting CP v Empoli FC - Pre-Season Friendly
According to Portuguese News outlet Record, United have fallen behind in their pursuit of their midfield target Bruno Fernandes. Recent reports suggested that United were firmly in the pole position to sign the Portuguese. There were even talks that a meeting between the representatives of the two clubs had been scheduled and the player would be announced next week. However, all that seems to have changed in a matter of days.

It appears that Tottenham Hotspur have now taken the lead in the race to sign Bruno Fernandes. The London club are apparently looking at the Portuguese as the ideal man to replace the outgoing Chriistian Eriksen. Pochettino is desperate to bolster his midfield after a disappointing defeat in the UEFA Champions League final, and sees Fernandes as a valuable addition to his team.
The Portuguese himself is keen on a move to the London side, who can offer him Champions League football. It seems United's failure to secure a top four finish might have cost them another player this summer.

Inspired by Diego Maradona, Deepungsu played as an attacking midfielder for his local club at subdivision level in his initial years and scored an important goal or two. However, his all-time favorite footballer is Lionel Messi, and evidently, he feels Argentina's glory in 2022 is his favorite FIFA World Cup moment for fulfilling his long-standing dream. He is also an ardent East Bengal fan.

Unsurprisingly, his favorite manager is Sir Alex Ferguson and the Scotsman helped him get through some of the toughest days of his life. Despite believing in Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland to create an iconic rivalry, Deepungsu reckons no one can match the longevity of Messi and Ronaldo. He spends his leisure time writing about life on his blog, reading books, and playing the guitar.
