Hello and welcome to Sportskeeda's Manchester United Transfer Roundup. The Red Devils were staring in the face of a miserable season until Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over and rejuvenated the spirits, put a smile back on everyone's faces and greatly improved their chances of breaking into the Top 4.
Manchester United have had a relatively quiet winter transfer window so far. However, they seem to be signing off on a different note. Today we have some exciting bits of transfer news to bring to you from the red half of Manchester.
Without further ado, let's take a look at the top transfer news, rumours and updates involving Manchester United that made headlines on 31 January 2019.
Manchester United eyeing Jadon Sancho
The Red Devils are keeping an eye on Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho and are planning to launch a summer move for him, according to Metro. Sancho has been one of the brightest young prospects this season so far and has even forced Pulisic out of Borussia Dortmund's starting XI by virtue of some stellar performances.
The 18-year-old rejected a £30,000 per week contract offered by Manchester City and joined the Bundesliga in the summer. Sancho's form has earned him a call-up to the England national squad.
The right-flank has been marked as an area of priority by the Manchester United board and will look to strengthen by splashing some cash for the same. Dortmund's valuation of the player reportedly stands at £90 million. But after two relatively quiet transfer windows, United are expected to break the bank in the summer.
Manchester City have a buy-back clause in Sancho's agreement and they have the chance to match any offer that Dortmund accepts for him.
Real Madrid prepare £100 million bid for Marcus Rashford
Los Blancos are in desperate need of a top striker and Rashford's latest upturn in form seems to have caught their eye. According to Metro, Real Madrid are preparing a £100 million bid for the Manchester-born and bred youngster.
Marcus Rashford is set for a contract extension at Manchester United. This is on the back of Rashford's recent form where he has received a shot in the arm under the guidance of new caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Towards the end of Mourinho's stint at Trafford, Rashford was open to a move and the report claims that his representatives had sat down with their Real Madrid counterparts to discuss a potential deal.
There are also claims that United will offer Rashford a whopping £200,000 per week contract to ensure he stays on at the club where he rose through the ranks. Rashford remains a fan-favourite and seems to be enjoying life as United embark on an exciting phase post the Ferguson era playing some attractive, attacking football.
Manchester United launch last-minute bid for AS Monaco wonderkid
According to RMC Sport via Metro, Manchester United have launched a bid for 16-year-old AS Monaco star Hannibal Mejbri. Mejbri has been eyed by quite a few top clubs in Europe with Manchester United making the most significant strides towards an acquisition after having launched a bid.
As per the report, negotiations are being held between representatives of both sides. If they secure his services, Mejbri would be the second wonderkid that United would have agreed a deal for, with them reaching an agreement with Amiens for Noam Emeran.
Following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's appointment as caretaker manager, Manchester United have shifted their focus onto youngsters and are being linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund's exciting new addition Jadon Sancho.
Manchester United reach an agreement with Shandong Luneng over Marouane Fellaini
Manchester United fans stand divided as the Red Devils reach an agreement with Chinese Super League club Shandong Luneng for Marouane Fellaini, according to BBC.
Fellaini has been sporadically effective and has earned a cult status among the Old Trafford faithful. He has scored many an important goal for the Red Devils and his sheer physical presence has proven to be the X-factor for United in several outings.
Fellaini joined Manchester United in 2014 as the biggest signing of the summer in the post-Alex Ferguson era and failed to live up to expectations as Manchester United struggled. He had recently signed a new 2-year deal in early 2018.
The big Belgian was used extensively under Jose Mourinho but has played just 3 minutes of football since Manchester United's caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over.
