Manchester United’s want for a defender has been well-documented in this window. They have been linked with several players to enhance their backline but haven’t been able to price anyone for the center of defence.

Jose Mourinho is interested in two players the most: Toby Alderweireld and Harry Maguire. Mourinho’s interest in them explains that he is looking for a defender who is not only good at defending but has an ability on the ball.

According to Manchester Evening News, the Red Devils believe that signing Maguire would be easier than acquiring the Belgian since it would be incredibly hard to negotiate with Daniel Levy.
