Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini is attracting interest from the Serie A as Inter and AC Milan are eyeing a move for the Belgian international. The 29-year-old would most certainly leave Old Trafford when the transfer window reopens next month and a host of clubs are keen on securing his services. The former Everton player was reportedly spotted in Milan on Monday along with his twin brother Mansour and both the Milan clubs are willing to satisfy his wage demands of £120,000 a week.
Fellaini has been a bit part player for the Red Devils in recent weeks and the club is expected not to extend his current deal, which expires in 2018, meaning it’s rather obvious that the 29-year-old’s Manchester United career would most probably come to an end in January. The Belgian was earlier linked with a loan move to West Ham United, but United seems more interested in cashing in on him.
Fellaini arrived at Old Trafford on the deadline day of the 2013 summer transfer window in a £27.5 million deal and has made 109 appearances for the club in all competitions scoring 13 times. The 29-year-old was a key figure in the Manchester United side during the reigns of David Moyes and Louis van Gaal, and he did make a bright start to the season for United under Mourinho.
However, the former Standard Liege player has struggled for game time recently and he has fallen out with the Red Devils fans after giving away a late penalty at Goodison park. The Belgian was booed by a section of the United fans while he was warming up on the touchline during United’s 1-0 win against Tottenham.
Meanwhile, Fellaini might not be the only player to leave Old Trafford during January as Morgan Schneiderlin and Memphis Depay are also rumoured linked with Old Trafford exits. Also, Mourinho has suggested that he is willing to listen to offers and he will not stand in the way of any player if he decides to leave the red half of Manchester.
“I am always open to listen to offers for every player,” said Mourinho.
“More than listen to offers, I am always ready to listen to the players themselves. So any player who knocks on my door and is not happy and wants to move, when the offers are correct, I will never stop a player from leaving, even if it is to a rival. When Juan Mata left Chelsea to come to Manchester United (in January 2014), no problem at all. In my mentality, no problem at all. I am always open.”
