Manchester United : What would you do with £200 million?

David Moyes

It has been a terrible start for David Moyes at Manchester United and while the board remains calm the fans have the right to feel more than disappointed with the team’s lately performances. Not only the results might not be satisfactory, but also the over-paid transfer of Marouane Fellaini from August, who resulted as a total flop is disturbing for the Red Devils‘ supporters. At the same time the football world blames the manager for the fatal outcome this season, numerous over-looked reasons have affected the team.

United’s defence has grown old and lack reasonable, young replacements. Phil Jones is the only U-23 trusted defensive player in the first team. While other clubs have their sights set high, the Red Devils seem demotivated and lack ambition on the pitch. The club has recently handed a £200 million transfer budget for David Moyes to spend, nevertheless when asked about new signings the manager stated he does not plan to splash the cash this January and will wait until summer, still it is not only up to the Scot when talking about the transfers.

So, how can the club use their impressive budget in order to straighten out thing at the Old Trafford?

Renew Contracts

Captain Nemanja Vidic, 32, is on the verge of leaving the club, as agent Martina told Italy’s RadioCrc, Quoted by ESPN,

“Vidic wants to finish the season with Manchester United” but also suggested it is unlikely he will remain at Old Trafford beyond this time.

“He’s a very big player and he’ll not have any problems finding a new club. For the moment, we’re remaining calm because the situation could change from one moment to the next. However, at the moment, I feel I can rule out him signing an extension with the Red Devils.”

French left-back Patrice Evra is likely to abandon after spending his last 9 years playing for United. His probable replacement in the line-up, Fabio, has his contract running out of date this summer and the board should decide if the responsibility should be passed to the Brazilian defender, or should the experienced Frenchman extend his stay at the club.

Foremost Manchester United must agree on a new deal with their key striker Wayne Rooney, who has lately been linked with a move to rivals Chelsea as their contract talks with the England International have come to a stand still.

Sign young and efficient players

Adnan Januzaj is the only sub-20 starlet in Moyes’s team, as the average age equals 26.8, showing the team is too elderly. The board have made their first step in rejuvenating the team by signing hot prospect Wilfried Zaha from Crystal Palace, however the English prodigy remains benched under Moyes, as a result he could be looking for a loan out this transfer window. The Scottish manager preferred to start Antonio Valencia or Nani on the right wing instead.

Manchester United have shown their interest in signing Atletico Madrid’s Brazilian goal-scorer Diego Costa who is also on the wishlist of Arsene Wenger, Arsenal’s coach. The player would definitely raise the goal tally at any club and if Rooney does decided to leave, Costa would be a perfect replacement to play alongside Robin van Persie.

The club ought to bring a new, big-name winger, as Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia have been horrendous this term with Portuguese winger Nani out with a hamstring injury.

Borussia’s “last star standing“ Marco Reus could be the next man, following Robert Lewandowski’s move to Bayern, leaving the German giants. Nevertheless, if the Red Devils fail to come to terms with Borussia, Angel Di Maria could be the second option.

David Moyes might not seem a perfect manager for Manchester United at the moment, but the team’s supporters must not forget the story of their beloved Sir Alex Ferguson, who was appointed manager at Manchester United close to the half point mark of the season when the club was last in the Premier League. He then straightened out things at Old Trafford to later spend 26 successful seasons as a Red Devil.

Let alone our thoughts, With the likes of Ander Herrera, Koke, Marco Reus, Ilkay Gundogan, Leighton Baines and numerous other youngsters linked with the Red Devils, who do you guys see as the potential player/players (s) who could solve United’s problem?
