The opening game of the 2014-15 Premier League season featured Manchester United and Swansea at Old Trafford. While the Manchester club may have failed to produce the goods in the match, losing 1-2, they paid tribute to their fans all over the world.
The players wore shirts with names of 11 lucky mascots before kick off.
Their new £47 million-per-year shirt sponsors Chevrolet have put together a campaign called ‘What Do You #PlayFor?’ on social media outlets, which is aimed at bringing the club closer to its fans. The mascots’ names were in connection with this campaign.
The club has a fan-base of 659 million people across the globe, according to a survey done in 2012.
The mascots had been chosen by Chevrolet from around the world ranging from South Africa, China, India, Indonesia, USA and more. You can check out more about them here.
