Manchester United’s new manager Louis van Gaal has identified Ajax star Daley Blind as a possible major summer signing ahead of the new season, according to The Express.
Van Gaal was confirmed as Man United manager a week ago after much speculation. As soon as David Moyes was sacked following defeat to Everton, the Dutchman was linked to the Old Trafford managerial post.
He has already ended the club’s interest in Toni Kroos, of Bayern Munich, but is thought to be targeting his teammate, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Barcelona’s Cesc Fabregas.
Blind is an alternative to Fabregas and Schweinsteiger after lifting another Eredivisie title with Ajax, under legendary Dutchman, Frank de Boer.
The midfielder, who has been capped 9 times by his country, has won all four of Ajax’s consecutive league titles.
It is thought that Blind would not cost anywhere near as much as Schweinsteiger or Fabregas but would still take some time to get used to the Premier League.
With Van Gaal coming into United and having to change a lot of things around, fans will be hoping he targets bigger transfers rather than Blind, despite the Dutchman being a talented player.
