Manchester United are on ready to reject rival Chelsea‘s third bid for their star forward Wayne Rooney, according to ESPN’s sources.
They had earlier rejected two bids made by Chelsea for the 27-year-old English international.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho had previously stated that Rooney was their primary transfer target this summer.
Chelsea are going to make a bid of £40 million for the United man, but only after the two sides meet at Old Trafford on Monday.
The Manchester Evening News also quoted a United source as, “Our position on Wayne has not changed in the last 12 months and Chelsea know that.
“There is lot of anger and a perception that the latest comments have been made purely to get into the player’s head before the match.”
United, on the other hand, are still trying to add players to their squad.
Everton duo Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines are still on their wish list along with Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric.
