Manchester unites against Carlos Tevez

Carlos Tevez has come in the firing line of both Manchester United and Manchester City fans for his rebellious attitude and has slowly earned himself the tag of the most hated public figure in Manchester. City and United fans have come together ahead of this weekend’s derby to launch a ‘TRASH YOUR TEVEZ SHIRT’ campaign against the Argentine striker.

Fans of the two rival clubs have joined hands with English bookmakers Betfair, who also happen to the United’s sponsor. The company will be parking a big dumper outside Old Trafford on Sunday, one half painted red and the other half blue painted blue. The recycling truck will display slogans encouraging fans from both sides to dump their Tevez t-shirts in exchange for brand new ones.

Betfair spokesman Alex Bake told Daily Mail,

“Time and time again Tevez has let the fans down. What better way for fed up supporters to show they want rid of him for good than by dumping their shirts. These two sets of supporters don’t often see eye to eye, but I’m sure they’ll all be pleased if he leaves Manchester in the January transfer window.”

Tevez has been at the receiving end of prolonged hatred from the Red Devils’ supporters since he left the club to join their bitter rivals. The Citizens’ fans have grown frustrated over the forward’s behavior towards the club since he was reprimanded for refusing to come off the bench in a Champions League match against Bayern Munich last month.

All the jersey’s collected during derby day will be dispatched to Argentina and distributed among the local charities. The campaign has already gained popularity in the city and fans have been thronging in numbers to Old Trafford to show their support for the event and vent their anger on Tevez. A packed stadium on Sunday will definitely add to the exceptional response.

Tevez has been desperate to get back to his homeland and these developments will not help his cause in Manchester. He is expected to be at the fans’ mercy on Sunday, with both sets of supporters baying for his blood.
