Manuel Pellegrini denies any link with Manchester City

Malaga CF v RSC Anderlecht - UEFA Champions League

59-year-old Malaga manager Manuel Pellegrini has dismissed reports of him taking over as Manchester City coach after Roberto Mancini is sacked.

The Mirror reports that Roberto Mancini will be sacked within the next 24-hours and Spanish sports Daily AS has named Pellegrini as his successor.

However, Pellegrini denied the reports and said: “I categorically deny that I am the new Manchester City coach,”

“I have an agreement with Malaga not to talk to anyone and nothing has been agreed with any other outfit.

The Chilean added: “Nothing has been signed and no agreement reached. I’ve been fortunate enough, and very proud, that every year the big clubs are interested in me.

“I hope the future of this club will become somewhat clearer in the next few days.”
