Joe Hart, since two years, has been the undisputed number one for both club and country. However, after recent high profile howlers, his place has no longer been secure. Manuel Pellegrini, has moved quickly to quash any rumors of Joe Hart being sold or loaned out in the January transfer window.
He said, “There is a lot of news about six or seven goalkeepers that we want to buy but it is not true. There is no chance that Joe Hart could go out of this squad in January”
Costel Pantilimon, who replaced Hart in goal for the last couple of matches for Manchester city, has been solid. However, the Manchester City manager maintains that Joe Hart will continue to be his number one.
With reference to the match against Bayern Munich in the week, Pellegrini said, “I think it is very important to win the group. It is not the most important thing, the most important thing is to qualify, but it is very important to play well also.”
As far as Joe Hart is concerned, Pellegrini has confirmed he will start.
“The important thing for Joe is that he will play tomorrow and we hope he will have a very good performance.” he said.
For many, it’s a matter of ‘when’ rather than ‘if’, that Hart will come out of this wretched run. Manchester city and England fans will hope it happens sooner rather than later.
