Marcus Rashford – scorer of the winner in the Manchester derby – has been banned from using Manchester United's first team dressing room in Carrington. The 18-year-old who has gone on to save Louis van Gaal's job and the club by scoring 5 goals in his last 8 appearances continues to use the under-21's dressing room, report The Mirror.
This decision comes from the Manchester United manager, Louis van Gaal, and his first team assistant managers and coaches who insist that youngsters like Rashford, Guillermo Varela, James Weir, Joe Riley, Donald Love and Regan Poole all use the under-21 dressing room as they are kept 'on the ground' as much as possible.
A source confirmed to The Mirror that this was the case by saying. "Marcus still uses the Under 21 dressing room at Carrington but he's not the only one. All the rest of the young players who have made their debut's recently do the same.
"It's the manager's policy to leave them with their own age groups for now and it's his decision when they are invited to change with the senior players at Carrington."
Another source told Sunday People Sport: "The coaches are keen none of the young players gets carried away just because they have made some first team appearances.
"They have to earn the right to make the next step up with the seniors. They all know the score and are happy with that. Staying with their own age group helps keep them grounded.
"They will get the call to the senior dressing room at Carrington when the manager and his coaches think the time is right."
Marcus Rashford introduced himself to the world in Manchester United's massive 5-1 victory over Danish side, FC Midtjylland, in the UEFA Europa League scoring two goals. He followed this performance by scoring another goal against English rivals, Arsenal, in the Premier League.
HIs greatest one yet was the goal against Manchester City in the Manchester derby last weekend where he received the ball, sped past a sure-footed Martin Demichelis and scored past Joe Hart to give his side the lead.
Given his age, Rashford is yet to cement his first-team spot and by keeping him grounded, Manchester United hope he can stay at the club for years to come.
