Germany striker Mario Gomez will begin pre-season training with European champions Bayern Munich on Wednesday with his agent denying reports that a transfer deal to Italy’s Fiorentina has been done.
“He has not agreed with any club and will train today, and in the next few days, in Munich, as normal,” Gomez’s agent Uli Ferber told German broadcaster Sport1.
“Anything else is just pure speculation at the moment.”
Several media outlets have reported Gomez, 27, has agreed a four-year deal with Fiorentina in a contract reported to be around 20 million euros.
New head coach Pep Guardiola takes his first training session on Wednesday night, with up to 25,000 fans expected, and the ex-Barcelona boss has said all players have the same chance to impress him ahead of the new season on August 9.
Gomez, who is under contract at Bayern until 2016, has endured a frustrating season with the Champions League winners having lost his first-team place to Croatia’s Mario Mandzukic.
On Monday, Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said there had been no official offer from any club for Gomez, who has also been linked to Juventus and Atletico Madrid.
Despite being mainly limited to a role off the bench, Gomez still managed 19 goals for Bayern last season.
The tally included a hat-trick in six minutes in the 6-1 German Cup semi-final win over VfL Wolfsburg as Munich went onto win the treble of European, cup and league titles.
