In last night’s Capital One game, yet another record fell as Mark Schwarzer became Chelsea’s oldest ever player. At nearly 41 years of age, he replaces Dick Spence, who was 39 when he made his last appearance for Chelsea in 1947.
We will have to see if he is called upon at any point to become our oldest Premier League player, with the two oldest players Graham Rix and Glen Hoddle making their final appearance in the same game.
This means that in the space of just a few months’, two records that have stood for decades have changed, with Lampard continuing to add to his goal scoring record.
“Making history. not reliving it”.
