Bilbao (Spain), Oct 13 (IANS) Spanish midfielder Markel Susaeta on Thursday agreed to extend his contract for two football seasons with Athletic Bilbao until June 30, 2019.
The agreement has also witnessed an increase in its payment clause, from $38.5 million to $49 million (35 to 45 million euros), reports Efe.
Susaeta, 28, has played 10 seasons with the first team of Athletic since his debut in 2007 under the helm of coach Joaquin Caparros in a match against FC Barcelona at Camp Nou.
The midfielder has played a total of 302 La Liga matches, 43 in Copa del Rey, eight in UEFA Champions League, 49 in the Europa League and three in the Spanish Super Cup, in which he has scored a total of 51 goals.

These figures make Susaeta the 13th player with most appearances in the history of Athletic Bilbao (405) and the first in the European competitions (57).
