Premier League newcomers Crystal Palace have confirmed the signing of Morocco international striker Marouane Chamakh on a one-year deal from Arsenal.
Chamakh, 29, was signed on a free by Arsenal from Bordeaux in 2011. The striker scored 11 goals in an impressive first season but found playing time hard to come by after the return to fitness of Robin van Persie.
The Moroccan never rediscovered his goal scoring form for Arsenal and was loaned out to West Ham in the winter transfer window last season. The loan spell proved unfruitful as he failed to score and made only three appearances for the Hammers, all prior to January 31st.
He becomes the third striker that Palace manager Ian Holloway has signed in the close season.
