Marseille face off with Le Havre in a Ligue 1 match at the Stade Velodrome this Sunday. Marseille are currently in second place in the league table, ahead of Monaco on goal difference.
They are probably too far behind league leaders Paris St. Germain to mount a title challenge but should be confident of a UEFA Champions League spot.
Le Havre, in contrast, are currently in 17th and are mired in a relegation battle. So can the strugglers produce an upset here or will it be business as usual for Marseille?
Marseille vs Le Havre Head-to-Head and Key Numbers
- Marseille have an exemplary record against Le Havre in recent years. They have come out on top in all of their last six meetings against this weekend's opponents, including a 3-0 win at the Stade Velodrome last season.
- Marseille ended 2024 on an unbeaten run of five matches. They beat Lens, Monaco and Saint-Etienne before drawing with Lille in the league, and they also thrashed Saint-Etienne in the Coupe de France, too.
- Le Havre, in contrast, lost their final three league games last year, scoring just one goal in the process. They were also eliminated from the Coupe de France by minnows Stade Briochin.
- Despite their high position in the league table, Marseille's disciplinary record has been a concern this season. Roberto di Zerbi's side have seen five red cards, more than any other team in Ligue 1 this season.
- Le Havre's general form has been worrying this season, but their away form in particular is a cause for alarm. In their seven away games this season, they have fallen to defeat five times. They have also scored just six goals on their travels.
Marseille vs Le Havre Prediction
On paper at least, this game should be a simple one for Marseille. Not only are the home team on extremely strong form right now, but they're also facing one of Ligue 1's real strugglers in Le Havre.
The away side not only find it difficult to keep goals out, but they have been extremely profligate this season, scoring just eleven. When you consider that Marseille have only conceded 18 goals in total, it's hard to imagine the away side finding a path to victory here.
The prediction, therefore, is a comfortable home win.
Prediction: Marseille 3-0 Le Havre
