Real Madrid's prodigal son, Martin Odegaard was tested to his limits, during his first training session for the Los Blancos. The 16-year old was paired with Gareth Bale in a sprinting exercise on Thursday morning.
Bale sped past the Norwegian starlet, but later offered some words of encouragement to the youngster. Odegaard will play the rest of the season with Real Madrid's B team, Castilla, but is expected to train with the first team on a regular basis.
The Norwegian International has reiterated that his decision to sign for Real Madrid was based on sporting aspects and not financial ones. Odegaard said, "It [money] has not been an issue at all for me. It was not an issue in my discussions with various clubs. I chose what was best for me in sporting terms."
The 16-year old is being paid a staggering £40,000 a week for his services with the UEFA Champions League winners. He will begin his career, under the management skills of Madrid legend, Zinedine Zidane.
Meanwhile, Odegaard and Lucas Silva could be the last bit of transfer business that Madrid might indulge in for a while. FIFA are currently conducting an investigation into the signing of underage players.
Two Venezuelan 12-year olds, who were signed in 2012 are central to FIFA's findings, that could indict a transfer ban on the club.
