Luis Suarez was served a ban for four months from all football by FIFA after he was found guilty of biting Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini in their final Group D match in Natal.
This comes not only as a big blow for Uruguay who can’t call him up for nine International matches, but also for his club Liverpool who will be missing a total of 13 matches for the English Premier side, including nine league matches.
The matches Luis Suarez will miss for Liverpool due to his ban:
Date | Match |
---|---|
16 August | Liverpool vs Southampton |
23 August | Manchester City vs Liverpool |
30 August | Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool |
13 September | Liverpool vs Aston Villa |
20 September | West Ham vs Liverpool |
27 September | Liverpool vs Everton |
4 October | Liverpool vs West Brom |
18 October | QPR vs Liverpool |
25 October | Liverpool vs Hull |
This was not the first time Suarez was suspended for an action such as he was served a 10-match ban for biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic in April 2013, during which Liverpool had won seven matches in all competitions, drawing drawn twice and lost once.
Apart from missing the domestic league matches, he will also have to sit out of Liverpool’s first three matches in the UEFA Champions League.
