German defender Mats Hummels, who scored a terrific header goal in the 32nd minute of the 4-0 win over Portugal, injured his right leg late in the clash.
He fell while attempting to receive a high-pass, hence putting too much pressure on his right-leg, which resulted in the injury. However, he has assured the press that he will be fit enough to participate in the match against Ghana.
“I have been struck on the thigh," Hummels said after the game.
"That's why a replacement came on. There's always a worry that the injury could be worse than first thought but with a bit of luck I will be fine in just a few days . It looked worse than what it was.”
German coah Joachim Löw added “He received a blow to his thigh but I am assuming that it is nothing too dramatic.”
Shkodran Mustafi is set to replace Mats Hummels if he is unable to play in Germany’s next match againt Ghana.
