#1 Matthijs de Ligt sets two demands to complete move to United
Talk about a never ending saga! Even after we reported on 26th May that United were no longer interested in Ajax wonder kid Matthijs de Ligt, the rumour mill keeps moving with new stories on the deal. The Daily Mail reports that the Dutch defender has set two main demands that has jeopardized his proposed move to Barcelona.
United had moved away from a proposed deal because they considered Barcelona to be the front runners for the Dutchman's signature. But the 19-year-old has now asked for more money in the deal and has also asked for reassurances regarding the number of games he would play at the Camp Nou. Neither of these two demands have pleased the Catalan giants, who are unwilling to part with more money. Also, with Gerard Pique, Clement Lenglet and Samuel Umtiti in the mix, a place in the starting eleven is not guaranteed on a consistent basis for the youngster.
This is where United have suddenly emerged as the favourites again. They have the financial muscle to meet the Dutchman's wage demands, while De Ligt is a huge upgrade to the players in their arsenal, which guarantees the Dutchman a permanent place in the starting eleven.
One thing is certain, this is one transfer we have not heard the last of yet.
