#2 Lucas Moura reveals why he rejected Manchester United
Tottenham Hotspur star Lucas Moura has shed light on the reasons why he decided to join the Lillywhites over Manchester United. The Brazilian attacker joined Tottenham in 2018 after completing five-and-a-half-year spell at Paris Saint Germain.
The Red Devils were initially interested in signing him in 2012, but were beaten by the French champions who forked out £45m for his signature.
When asked why he spurned United's advances, Moura said,
"There was a conversation with United but it was for a loan and I didn’t want a loan."
"I thought that if I left PSG, I didn’t want to go back. When I came to Tottenham, and I saw the training ground and met the coach, I said that I wanted to come here."
15 months since he left PSG, Moura has already become an important cog in the wheel for Tottenham, having netted a hattrick against Ajax that saw them advance to their first ever UEFA Champions League final.
