Although Lionel Messi denied any rumours linking him to other clubs, reports of him falling out with his boss, Luis Enrique, have only increased the speculation over his position. If one were to look at the situation in regard with finances, one would realise that only a few clubs could afford to bring the Argentine into their team.
One of these clubs is Manchester City. City boss Manuel Pellegrini spoke to Spanish radio station Onda Cero this week and said, “It’s normal we are linked with the best players in the market.
“At times these rumours come out of personal interests and not from the club but I’m not saying this has happened in this case.”
Messi could be tempted to join Manchester City because of his fellow Argentine, Sergio Aguero.
But if Barcelona do see Messi leave this season, it could be the final straw for most Barcelona fans and the current President Sandro Rosell might lose his presidency to Joan Laporta.
Real Madrid Superstar Cristiano Ronaldo admitted that he would like to play in a team with Messi one day, after beating him to the Ballon d’Or on Monday.
Whatever the case is, it will be interesting to see how things fold out for Messi, and most importantly for Barcelona.
