Lionel Messi has signed a contract extension with Barcelona that will keep him at the Catalan club till the summer of 2018. The deal was highly expected, and ties the Argentine forward down to the club till when he turns 31.
Messi’s previous deal was set to expire in 2016.
Messi scored an amazing 92 goals in 2012, and is considered to be one of the greatest players in the world, at the age of 25. He has 34 goals in the La Liga this season, and has managed to score in each of his team’s 22 league games.
Messi bagged his fourth World Player of the Year award in January and has been the top scorer in the Champions League for four years running. He has helped his team win the Champions League title three times, along with five domestic titles and two Copa del Reys.
