Lionel Messi is regarded as the best talent the game of football has ever seen. He has had an illustrious career, with both Barcelona and Argentina. The one trophy that always seemed to evade him was the Copa America trophy.
Still, the Argentine finally managed to win this tournament in 2021 and added the 2021 Copa America trophy to his vast trophy cabinet. The only trophy he has been unable to win is the FIFA World Cup. Messi along with Argentina came very close to winning the tournament in 2014 but was defeated by a 113’ goal by Mario Gotze which saw Germany lifting the FIFA World Cup trophy instead.
Messi will be going into the 2022 World Cup wanting to add the World Cup trophy to his trophy cabinet and will hope that the recent success of the Copa America triumph carries onto this tournament as well.
