Mesut Ozil has reportedly bought a new house in the heart of London. The Arsenal midfielder’s new house is a stunning three-storey home with its own cinema.
Ozil, who is Arsenal’s highest paid player on £140,000 per week wages, was recently spotted by the neighbors at the pad and is already a familiar face in the Highgate area. Speaking to The Sun, a local said, “I heard from another neighbor that he’s definitely moving in. But he’s been living here for years, and I’ve seen him around.”
"I am not a football fan but we are used to seeing players around here – it seems to attract them. Ozil has got some very nice cars outside his current house – he’s got a Lamborghini and a very flash Mercedes sports car. We know the people in the house have sold and have moved out so he should in any day now. Ozil is a quiet guy though, I hope. It makes sense for him though the training ground is just down the road,” the person went on to add.
Ozil won’t be the first celebrity to live in the area, though. Tottenham stars Hugo Lloris, Jan Vertonghen, and Moussa Dembele all live in and around this area.
“I hope it means our tranquility won’t be ruined but I have heard Ozil is quite a quiet guy, and he is a practicing Muslim so shouldn’t be having wild parties. The neighbors are worried that these celebrity players and their lifestyle would ruin their normal and peaceful living.”
“We’re crazy Arsenal fans, but to be honest we would prefer to only see the players at the stadium.”
The German midfielder was in sensational touch in Arsenal’s 3-2 victory over Ludogorets in the Champions League, however, he went missing in the North London derby although it was the German’s free-kick that eventually produced the goal for Arsenal.
Ozil’s current contract at Arsenal expires in 2018 but the ex-Madrid player is reportedly set to sign a new six-year deal with the Gunners. He also revealed recently that Arsenal have always been his first choice. The midfielder has been in fine form in front of goal this season and fans will be hoping that a deal can be confirmed soon.
Juventus, Manchester United, and even Real Madrid are said to be interested in signing the German international while Carlo Ancelotti's Bayern Munich are also said to be keeping an eye on him.
