Robin Van Persie‘s missed out on yet another Player of the Year award as Michael Carrick was last night named Manchester United‘s Players’ Player of the year. However, the 29-year-old picked up two awards, Sir Matt Busby player of the season that was voted in by the fans and the goal of the season award for his stunning volley against Aston Villa. The strike was the Dutchman’s second of a brilliant hat-trick, which saw the reds claim their 20th title.
Sir Alex described this season as Carrick’s best ever for Manchester United. Each member of the team had been asked to vote for the award and they collectively chose the English international for the award.
The reserves player of the season award was given to Adnan Januzaj for emerging as one of the best for Warren Joyce’s side while Ben Pearson received the young player of the season award.
