AC Milan have confirmed the signing of Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien, bringing to an end his nine year stay at Stamford Bridge. Essien is believed to have signed an 18 month deal in Milan and was officially unveiled by the club this morning.
The 31 year old had found himself surplus to requirements in London this season, even more so with the recent arrival of Nemanja Matic, and made just five Premier League appearances for Chelsea since the return of Jose Mourinho to the club.
Milan tweeted a picture of Essien arriving at the club, whilst the midfielder himself also tweeted his feelings over the move. He told his followers that he was looking forward to his new life in Milan, before telling reporters that he cannot wait to be available for his new club.
