AC Milan captain Riccardo Montolivo admits the Serie A football derby against Inter on Sunday is ‘crucial’ for his side's season. Inter are fourth in the Serie A table, having mustered 41 points from 21 matches, while Milan are sixth with 33 points.
The Rossoneri captain was present for a press conference on Thursday to promote Sunday's Derby della Madonnina as a 'Match for Peace' and discussed the season so far, reports football-italia.com.
Milan beat Alessandria in the first leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final this week.
"The regret from the season so far is we've failed to make the leap," Montolivo reflected.
"We haven't been consistent, and the derby is a crucial game to keep our hopes of a high finish alive.
"We're close to the Coppa Italia final, we've worked well," the midfielder said.
