Milan, Nov 19: Former AC Milan player Serginho has said the Milan football derby has lost its charm and was not as attractive as it used to be.
AC Milan and Inter Milan will lock horns at San Siro on Sunday when Serie A resumes after the international break. Serginho said on Tuesday that the match will be as important as before to both sides, but for the outside world, the interest is waning, reports Xinhua.
"Italian soccer is going through a bad period and I have to say that the situation of both clubs could be felt in Milan," the former Brazilian left-sided specialist said.
"This derby generates less interest than in previous years, as Milan and Inter, two teams who used to win both in Italy and in Europe, now find themselves unable to play in the Champions League and out of the title race," he said.
"It is clear, therefore, that this game has lost a bit of its charm from the past, even if this game remains important for the rest of the season."
