Salah is held in incredibly high regard in his native Egypt and cemented his status as a national hero on Sunday after sending his country through to the 2018 World Cup.
The heart of the matter
The winger netted a 95th minute penalty to see off Congo, which meant that his side guaranteed their place in Russia ahead of the World Cup, which follows the end of the current campaign.
Egypt’s qualification has meant a lot to the country as a whole, and measures have been taken already to honour him for his heroics on Sunday evening, including his former school being renamed in his honour.
Impact
Salah has had an emotional few days as his goal made him a national hero but he will soon need to focus on helping Liverpool to a positive season before he jets off to the World Cup with his country.

Liverpool fans will be hoping that Salah returns from international duty full on confidence after a few below average displays before he jetted off. The winger has the pace to burn and an eye for goal and it will be great fun to watch him in the World Cup.
