Mohammedan Sporting lodged an FIR with the Maidan Police Station in Kolkata on Wednesday against their former striker Tolgay Ozbey.
The Australian started this season with Mohammedan and was given a car during his stint with the Kolkata club. But a Mohammedan club official has claimed that the car hasn’t been returned even though Tolgay has left Kolkata and joined Goan outfit Dempo back in January.
“We are yet to get the car back from him. This is why, we have brought it to the notice of the police,” the club official was quoted saying by TOI.
Tolgay helped Mohammedan win the Durand Cup earlier in the season but was released in December for disciplinary reasons. Following his move to Dempo in the January transfer window, the striker helped the Goan club reach the Federation Cup semis and now is playing a key role in the club’s bid to finish in the top four.
The former East Bengal and Mohun Bagan striker scored four goals against Churchill Brothers last week and even netted the winner against Mohammedan when the sides met in Goa two weeks ago.
Following that result, Mohammedan complained to the AIFF that Tolgay shouldn’t have featured in that game due to a mutual agreement between the player and the club. But the AIFF players’ status committee cleared Tolgay to play as Mohammedan had not cleared his dues.
