Kolkata giants Mohun Bagan AC have added center-back Rowilson Rodrigues to their defence, which hasn’t been the most stable in recent seasons. Rowilson joins the Mariners from Dempo SC on a one year contract.26 year old Rowilson Rodrigues is a product of the Sesa Football Academy in Goa. He started his professional career in 2006 with Churchill Brothers SC with whom he won the 2008/09 I-League before shifting to Dempo SC in 2011 and directly winning his second I-League crown in 2011/12.
On why he joined Mohun Bagan Rowilson said, “One of the main reasons for me joining Mohun Bagan is coach Karim Bencherifa. I enjoyed playing under him in Churchill Brothers. In fact, his guidance and tips has been of immense help to me in my career. I always wanted to play under him once again.”
Rowilson will hope that with his move to Kolkata he can secure a place at the heart of defence with the green-and-maroon to also push for a place in the Indian national team squad.
