Kolkata, Aug 16 (IANS) City soccer giant Mohun Bagan has roped in Afghan goalkeeper Haroon Amiri for the ongoing Calcutta Football League, the club announced on Tuesday.
Amiri underwent his physical fitness test under the watchful eyes of Mohun Bagan physical trainer Djair De Miranda Garcia on Monday and took part in a full training session on Tuesday supervised by head coach Sankarlal Chakraborty.
The shot stopper had earned fame in Indian football by putting up an impressive show in the I-League for Mumbai FC in 2011.
He went on to win the FPAI fans' player of the year award in the 2012-13 I-League season.
He turned out for Goan team Dempo SC in 2014-15 and was also loaned out to ISL Franchise FC Goa.
In the last season, Amiri was part of DSK Shivajians, the newly promoted I-League team and had a decent season.
Amiri will apply for his registration in favour of Mohun Bagan at the Indian Football Association (WB) office on Wednesday.
