Berlin, July 5 (IANS) Monchengladbach coach Lucien Favre has extended his contract with the Bundesliga football club until 2015.

“I was in talks with the board and the management for a long time. I am delighted with the contract extension and I am looking forward to an appealing task,” Favre was quoted as saying by Xinhua.

“Lucien Favre is the perfect coach for Borussia and we are pleased to go on like we did before,” Monchengladbach sports director Max Eberl added.

The 55-year-old Swiss joined German side Borussia Monchengladbach in February 2011 to lead the team from a hopeless a relegation playoff spot to maintain their place in first division after a win over Bochum.

Moreover, Favre led the team to fourth position in the Bundesliga standings to earn UEFA Champions League playoff spot, and into the German Cup (DFB Pokal) semi-finals.

Favre stunned the entire Bundesliga with an offensively and fast counter-attacking approach.
