The bitter lesson that Manchester City fans are coming to terms with is that when it comes to buying class, money cannot do it, the titles and the prestige built over time do play a bigger role in influencing players to make the move from one club to another. This best explains why they are yet to make any big signing as the transfer window almost slams shut. An infuriated Roberto Mancini has however decided to take out his anger at the club’s management, though this does not really seem to bear any fruit yet.
While City thought that the one time Premier League win would bolster their chances of getting to sign a lot of impressive talent this season, the contrary has been true. As a matter of fact, the problem with buying the whole world and having them at your disposal comes in when you are looking to get rid of them. The massive wages get to you so fast, and before you know it, you have a whole band of well paid lazy people who cannot do anything for you. Once you get to such a point, you have to think twice before you quote a selling price for a player, since their wages really put off a lot of potential suitors.
Well, they sure look set to loose out on signing Danielle DeRossi from AS Roma, but in modern football, it never is over until it is done. Therefore haters will start laughing out loud, but you never know, Mancini could have the last laugh come 1st September.
Dear Roberto Mancini and Manchester City, for your sake, please make sure you tie down David Silva to a long term deal. United, Real Madrid and Chelsea are carefully following proceedings, oh, and PSG!
Do have a rich day, won’t you?
