Montpellier face off with Brest in a Ligue 1 game at the Stade de la Mosson this Sunday. Bottom side Montpellier are struggling for traction right now, while Brest currently sit in 11th place, a far cry from the form that took them into the Champions League last season.

So can Montpellier claim some valuable points this weekend or will Brest condemn them to more danger?

Recent results between these sides have been largely mixed, with three wins for Montpellier and three wins for Brest in their last six clashes. However, it is worth noting that Brest beat their hosts this weekend twice last season, including a 1-3 victory at the Stade de la Mosson.
Montpellier's current form is truly woeful, as they have lost five matches in a row in Ligue 1 action. More concerningly, they have failed to find the back of the net in their last three games, and have not scored a goal at home since September 22.
Brest's league form has been patchy, to say the least, and their most recent game saw them slump to a 0-1 defeat at the hands of Nice. However, Eric Roy's side have been the surprise package of the Champions League this season. They have won three of their first four games, including a win over Sparta Prague this week, and currently sit fourth in the table.
Not only has Montpellier's form been concerning, but nothing they've done so far suggests they are capable of turning things around. They have scored the fewest goals in Ligue 1 so far with eight, and conceded 30, six more than their nearest rivals (Saint-Etienne) in those stakes.
Despite their largely patchy results, Brest's goalkeeper Marco Bizot has kept three clean sheets thus far in the season, with only two goalkeepers producing more to date.

Despite Montpellier's home advantage in this game, it doesn't feel likely that they will produce a positive result.

Not only will Brest be buoyed by another positive result in Europe this week, but their opponents have been on awful form and also have several injuries to contend with.

Given that Montpellier have had as much trouble in scoring goals as they have done keeping them out, their visitors may not even need to be at their very best to pick up all three points come Sunday.
