MADRID (AFP) –
Outgoing Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has been given a two-match ban by the Spanish Football Federation after being sent from the touchline in Friday’s 2-1 defeat to Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey final.
However, the sanction applies only to domestic cup fixtures and so Mourinho will be able to sit on the bench for the final two league games of the season, against Real Sociedad and Osasuna, before departing the club.
Cristiano Ronaldo, who was also sent-off in Madrid’s first defeat to Atletico in 14 years, has also received a two-game ban that will only apply to Copa del Rey matches.
