Manchester United manager David Moyes confirmed after their Capital One Cup penalty shootout defeat to Sunderland that the players chose the penalty-takers, not him.
In a shocking statement, the Scot, who’s struggling to make any positive impact at United this season revealed that his players decided who would step-up and take a penalty and not him.
In the same revelation, Moyes also conceded that he had no complaints that his senior players ducked their responsibility, instead leaving the penalties to Adnan Januzaj, Danny Welbeck, Phil Jones and Rafael. The only ‘senior’ player to take one was Darren Fletcher and he scored their only penalty.
It is just another negative aspect on Moyes’ time at United but he will be hoping the imminent club-record signing of Juan Mata from Chelsea will help put a positive spin on things.
Moyes has lost (9) almost half as many games as he’s won (20) as Man United manager.
