Netherlands vs Germany at the Amsterdam ArenA tonight

The Netherlands take on neighbours and archrivals Germany in an international football friendly at the Amsterdam ArenA tonight. Though a number of star players will be missing from both line-ups, it still is expected to be an intense affair. The last couple of matches have gone Germany’s way, a 2-1 triumph at Euro2012 in Charkiv, Ukraine; while in the last friendly on November 15, 2011 in Hamburg the Germans scored an impressive 3-0 victory.

But tonight Germany will be without Jérôme Boateng, Mario Gómez, Miroslav Klose, Toni Kroos, Mesut Ozil, Marcel Schmelzer and Bastian Schweinsteiger, which forces coach Joachim Löw to try out something new.

At the other end, Dutch coach Louis van Gaal, who coached Bayern Munich in Germany, has put together a young and vibrant squad since the EURO 2012 disaster, and though he will miss Wesley Sneijder and Robin van Persie, van Gaal has confidence in his Bundesliga firepower, comprising of Rafael van der Vaart, Arjen Robben, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, Ibrahim Afellay, Eljiro Elia and Bas Dost.

Let’s hope for a good match tonight…
