New Barcelona signing Jeremy Mathieu admits to smoking, but unconcerned

La Liga club Barcelona’s new centre back signing Jeremy Mathieu , who joined from Valencia last month for a fee of €20m, admitted that he does smoke cigarettes.

Speaking to Mundo Deportivo, Mathieu said: “Do I smoke? It's a bit of a personal thing. I'm not a smoker who smokes a pack every day,”

“I haven't smoked for a fortnight right now. I've been caught and that's the way it is, but I don't smoke every day.”

Mathieu isn’t the first footballer to be caught smoking. Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere was caught smoking on vacation while Mario Balotelli has also been in trouble for smoking on a train.

“I know that something has been published, but it doesn't matter.” Mathieu added.
