The Indian National football team has gained a place to be 162nd in the latest rankings released on Thursday, according to world football's governing body FIFA. India currently have 139 points, according to the list.
Earlier, the Indian team had slumped to 172nd in the table, their second lowest ranking ever after the side suffered back to back losses in the World Cup qualifiers.

India climbed three more spots from 166th to 163rd after winning the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Championship beating Afghanistan 2-1 in the final last month. However, with this recent bunch of fearless footballers, India could achieve better things in 2016.
Iran (44) are the highest ranked Asian nation while the SAFF Cup runners-up Afghanistan have fallen a spot and are now in the 154th position.
On the other hand, world champions Germany are in the fourth spot. Belgium tops the list, followed by second placed and World Cup runners-up Argentina. Spain are third.
Five-time Champions Brazil are in the sixth spot. Portugal are in the seventh position followed by Columbia in eighth, England in ninth and Australia in the tenth spot.
