Newcastle United could be set to lose midfielder Yohan Cabaye to Paris Saint Germain, with reports suggesting that they in negotiations with French side Paris Saint Germain over a deal for the Frenchman. Newcastle rejected a bid – believed to be in the region of £14 million – for Cabaye over the weekend, but the BBC believe that negotiations are continuing. The Guardian also report that Man United are interested.
With negotiations well underway, manager Alan Pardew admitted to Sky that he is not confident of keeping Cabaye at the club beyond the close of the transfer window.
“You are talking to someone who lost Andy Carroll with eight hours to go, so am I confident? “No, I’m not confident, and I don’t think any team not in a Champions League position or fighting for a Champions League position could be,” said Pardew.
“We know we have got a club interested in Cabaye, a very wealthy club and a powerful club, and we are conscious of that.
“We are doing our best to protect Newcastle.”
Cabaye has made 18 appearances for Newcastle this season, scoring seven goals. He has taken 50 shots in the Premier League this season, more than any other Newcastle player
