La Liga clubs Girona and Real Sociedad are reportedly interested in signing Barcelona's Eric Garcia. The 23-year-old centre-back joined the Catalan giants from Manchester City as a free agent in 2021 after four years in Manchester.
In September 2023, Girona signed the Spanish defender on loan from Barcelona. Eric Garcia had a successful run of games with Blanquivermells, scoring five goals in 31 games and helping them qualify for the UEFA Champions League for the first time in the club's 94-year history. That season, Girona finished third in LaLiga with 81 points, behind Barcelona and Real Madrid.
However, he has been used sparingly by coach Hansi Flick this season, racking up just 12 appearances this season with an average of just 44 minutes per game. The La Masia graduate has started just four games out of a possible 18 in La Liga 2024-25.
As per Relevo (via Tribal Football), Girona are looking to re-sign Eric Garcia to bolster their defensive lineup. The club hasn't lived up to the lofty standards of last season. In 17 league games played so far, they have amassed just 22 points and are currently 10th on the table. In the UEFA Champions League, they have managed just one win in six games and are ranked 30th.
According to the report, Real Sociedad are also interested in signing Garcia. They are seventh in the La Liga table and will be looking to rise and gain a ticket to European football next season. However, as per Relevo, Girona are leading the race to sign the Spaniard in the January transfer window.
Barcelona ready to sanction Andreas Christensen's sale to accommodate Dani Olmo's registration: Reports
According to journalist Rudy Galetti (via Barca Universal), Barcelona are willing to sell Danish centre-back Andreas Christensen in the January transfer window. This is reportedly a bid to register summer signing Dani Olmo, whose registration expires on December 31, 2024.
Christensen was signed as a free agent from Premier League giants Chelsea in 2022. The Dane has played 75 games for the side, scoring four goals and creating three more. However, he has played just one game this season due to an Achilles tendon inflammation. The 28-year-old was subbed off just 26 minutes into the match in Barcelona's season opener against Valencia on August 17.
Barcelona signed Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig for a reported €55 million this summer. However, because of the club's financial constraints, they could register him for six months. They temporarily excluded Andreas Christensen from the squad because of his injury to make space for Dani Olmo's registration. However, a renewal might not be possible without a permanent fix to the problem.
La Blaugrana are also exploring a deal with streaming giants Spotify over the VIP boxes at Camp Nou. However, if the deal doesn't materialize, Christensen could be sold in January.
