Former Manchester United forward Dimitar Berbatov believes incoming head coach Ruben Amorim has his work cut out at Old Trafford. The Portuguese manager, who is currently in charge of Sporting, has already been named as Erik ten Hag's replacement.

Amorim will take charge of the Red Devils on November 11. The Premier League giants have struggled for form this season and are 13th in the league table after 10 games.

Speaking to Mirror Football, Berbatov pointed out that the Portuguese will have to manage big egos at Manchester United.

"I think that, based on what he achieved in Portugal, I think winning the two titles and the cup as well, based on all this it's a good appointment. He's a manager that obviously has a winning mentality," said Berbatov.

He continued:

"On the other hand, the Portuguese league, we cannot compare it to the Premier League because the Premier League is one of, if not the, best in the world. So now it's going to be a big change for him coming to United, where normally you have big players, which means big egos. So now you need to know how to manage them."

Berbatov admitted that everyone was eagerly waiting for Amorim's first game in charge of the Red Devils.

"You need to know at first are these players going to fit your system of playing, which normally is 3-4-3 for him - are they good enough to fit that system? Do you need to change your system to fit the players that you have until you get other players who are going to be good enough for your system?" said Berbatov.

He concluded:

"So a lot of questions there for him to be ready to answer, and everybody is probably waiting eagerly for him to get the first game in charge."

Amorim will be in the dugout for the first time for Manchester United for the game against Ipswich Town at Portman Road on November 24.

Who is in charge of Manchester United right now?

Ruud van Nistelrooy
Ruud van Nistelrooy

Manchester United legend Ruud van Nistelrooy is currently in charge at Old Trafford as interim manager. The former striker took over from Erik ten Hag last week.

Nistelrooy started his tenure by guiding the Red Devils to an 5-2 EFL Cup win over Leicester City last week. He oversaw a 1-1 draw with Chelsea over the weekend in the Premier League and is currently preparing to face PAOK on Thursday (November 7) in the Europa League.

Nistelrooy's final game as interim manager of Manchester United will be this weekend's league tie against Leicester City on Sunday (November 10). It is still unclear if he will retain his position under Ruben Amorim.
