"We did our job" - New Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim after beating Everton
Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim was a pleased man after making his Premier League home debut with a resounding win. It marked United's 42nd victory over Everton in the Premier League era, a record tally against a single side.
The former Sporing CP boss acknowleged that his team weren't at their best but got the job done against a struggling Everton side. Amorim told Sky Sports (as per the BBC):
"The result was good but we were pragmatic. It was not pretty but we were pragmatic. We did our job, which is to win. You can feel that we have a long way to go. You can feel that in the first few minutes, where we were OK, but then Everton controlled the game. Then we got the goals in the right moment, and that changed the game.
"You can't just focus on the result, you have to focus on the way the result appeared. Like before the game, we have so much to do, but it is better to work with victories. Let's focus on the performance more than the result."
Manchester United next take on arch-rivals Arsenal away in the league on Wednesday (December 4). The Gunners are coming off a 5-2 win at West Ham United to move to second in the standings.
