Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah has reportedly emerged as a target for Saudi Pro League champions Al-Hilal as the potential replacement for Neymar. As reported by 90Min, the Brazilian superstar could be on his way to reunite with Lionel Messi in the US and Salah could be brought in as his replacement.
Al-Hilal made Neymar their marquee signing in the summer of 2023 from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). However, the deal has been a hugely disappointing one for the reigning Saudi Pro League champions because of Neymar's injury problems.
The former Barcelona superstar has made just seven appearances in an Al-Hilal shirt till date. With his current deal at the Kingdom Arena expiring this summer, the 32-year-old looks destined for an exit on a free transfer.
A reunion with his old friend Lionel Messi could reportedly be on the cards for the Brazilian at Inter Miami. In fact, the MLS giants have a host of Neymar's former Barcelona teammates Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba.
Al-Hilal have reportedly started their pursuit to replace their biggest star with arguably the best ever footballer from the Arab world. With Mohamed Salah's future at Liverpool up in the air, they are eyeing a sensational move for the Egyptian superstar.
Mohamed Salah has arguably been the best player in Europe this season in a Liverpool shirt with 21 goals and 17 assists in 27 games. The Egyptian, however, has his current deal at Anfield expiring in the summer and could leave for nothing.
Salah joined the Merseyside giants in a reported £34.3 million deal from AS Roma in 2017 and has scored 232 goals and provided 105 assists in 376 games. The Egyptian King is understood to be keen on staying at Anfield but wants a deal on his terms.
Troy Deeney claims Liverpool player is better than Mohamed Salah
Former Premier League striker Troy Deeney has claimed that Alexis Mac Allister is better than his Liverpool teammate Mohamed Salah. In his Team of the Week column for BBC, the ex-Watford striker lavished praise on the World Cup winner. He wrote:
"Every time I watch him he always gets an assist and he always looks like the best player on the pitch. I know that's a bold statement to make when you've got people like Mohamed Salah, but every time I watch him he jumps off the screen to me."
Deeney added:
"Excellent performance against Manchester United, really combative, silky touches and he may go down as a Liverpool legend if he stays there long enough."
Mac Allister was one of Liverpool's better players in their disappointing 2-2 draw against Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday, January 5. The Argentina international completed 41 of his attempted 49 passes and provided the assist for Cody Gakpo's goal. He also won one tackle, seven duels and registered three shots.
