Real Madrid fans online have reacted on social media as key defender Eder Militão has picked up an injury. The centre-back has been primarily diagnosed with a muscle injury on his right leg, having suffered it on international duty with Brazil during a training session.
Eder Militao will undergo more testing to learn the extent of the injury. He is initially expected to take a minimum of two weeks to recover, as per Managing Madrid.
Fans took to social media and flooded with posts sharing their thoughts on Militao's injury and its impact on the Real Madrid squad. Here are some of their reactions from X (formerly Twitter):
"Cancel the season already man Another injury, are we cursed or what"
"Please sign Sergio freaking Ramos 🙏🏾😭"
"WE ARE FKN CURSED," chimed in another fan.
"I swear to God Madrid have a injury curse in the beginning of the season but we end up clutching up at end"
"This is not looking good for our backline"
"How did this happen ? Hopefully it’s not serious. Just when we have was getting back to his form." posted another.
"Oh no! Eder Militão goes down with an injury, huge blow for the team ! Wishing you a speedy recovery ❤️🩹"
While another wrote:
"AND THIS IS WHY WE SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN ONE MORE CB FFS"
With an injury-riddled defense, Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti is left with Antonio Rudiger as the only fit centre-back in the squad. Jesus Vallejo has also been facing recurring fitness issues since the summer. David Alaba is out injured until November at least while youngster Joan Martinez suffered an ACL injury this summer.
Real Madrid's potential defense replacement reportedly ruled out for 2 weeks
Real Madrid defender Jacobo Ramon has been reportedly ruled out for two weeks due to injury. The 19-year-old caught the attention of the club during his performances for Los Blancos' B and C teams. He was reportedly being considered for being included in the A team's starting squad following Eder Militao's injury.
However, Jacobo Ramon has sustained a muscle problem that will keep him out of the pitch for the next two weeks, as per Madrid Universal. Pending tests, the Real Madrid graduate will be absent for Castilla's clash with Villarreal B on Saturday, September 7. He is also likely to miss the first team’s La Liga clash with Real Sociedad next week.
Carlo Ancelotti might consider another Castilla centre-back, Raul Asencio, for the first-team squad. Alternatively, Aurelien Tchouameni can also play in the position. However, with Eduardo Camavinga also injured, Ancelotti might pick right-back Dani Carvajal as a centre-back.
