Arne Slot has confirmed that Diogo Jota, Federico Chiesa, and Alisson Becker are close to making their return to Liverpool training. He admitted that the Merseyside derby is too early for them but they will miss the match against Everton.

Speaking to the media today, Slot revealed that he was not worried about Alexis Mac Allister's suspension because he has players who can step up, just like they did with Jota, Cheisa, and Alisson were injured. The Liverpool manager added that Gravenberch is walking on a tight rope as the Dutchman is one yellow card away from a one-match suspension.

He said (via liverpool.com):

"That's the good thing [having players to replace Mac Allister] but Gravenberch one card away from suspension. How is this possible because we hardly make any fouls. If you look at the decisions you can argue that it was not correct for Alexis's yellow."
"Players will get suspended but we have three of the main four midfielders, and (Harvey) Elliott is on his way back, so that line is not our main worry, that is, at this moment, how close they are all back for playing time, defensively. Diogo (Jota) is close to being back, Federico (Chiesa), Alisson."

Liverpool are on top of the Premier League table with 35 points from 14 matches. They had their lead cut to seven points during the week as Chelsea and Arsenal picked up a win, while the Reds drew at Newcastle United.

Liverpool looking forward to Everton clash, confirms Arne Slot

Arne Slot has admitted that Liverpool players are looking forward to the Everton clash as they are aware of how special the Merseyside derby is for all fans as well.

He claimed that the Toffees have done well in recent matches and said:

"I think it is going to be special for everyone involved, the fans, players, managers. To be involved in this game is special and the last one at Goodison is even more. Only nice when you have the result though so that is what we're focusing on. Added satisfaction? I never speak about points before a game, especially a team like Everton in recent games, three clean sheets, very good win at Wolves. We have to be ready for a tough game, well managed side and the fans will be just as loud as Newcastle, maybe even louder. We have to be prepared."

Sean Dyche is under pressure at Everton despite picking up five points in the last four matches. They are 15th in table – just five points above the relegation zone while also being just six points away from the top half of the table.
